  • Strengthening GIS and Remote Sensing Education – To enhance practical training in GIS, Remote Sensing, GPS, and digital mapping techniques.
  • Establishment of an Advanced GIS Laboratory – To develop a well-equipped GIS and Remote Sensing laboratory with modern software, hardware, and geospatial datasets.
  • Skill-Based and Certificate Courses – To introduce short-term certificate/value-added courses in GIS, Remote Sensing, Surveying, GPS, Drone Mapping, and Disaster Management.
  • Research and Publication – To encourage faculty members and students to undertake research projects and publish research papers in reputed journals.
  • Field-Based Learning – To organize geographical excursions, field surveys, village surveys, industrial visits, and environmental studies for experiential learning.
  • Use of Modern Surveying Techniques – To provide hands-on training in dGPS/GNSS, Total Station, mobile GIS, drones, digital surveying, and other emerging geospatial technologies.
  • Disaster Management Studies – To undertake studies related to floods, droughts, landslides, climate change, and other natural hazards, particularly in Kolhapur and the Western Ghats region.
  • Environmental Awareness and Sustainability – To organize activities related to environmental conservation, biodiversity, water management, climate change, and sustainable development.
  • Student Research Projects – To encourage students to undertake small research projects based on local geographical and environmental issues.
  • Collaboration and MoUs – To establish academic collaborations with universities, research institutes, government agencies, NGOs, and geospatial industries.
  • Career Guidance and Competitive Examinations – To provide guidance regarding careers in GIS, Remote Sensing, urban planning, surveying, environmental management, teaching, research, and competitive examinations.
  • Workshops, Seminars and Guest Lectures – To regularly organize workshops, conferences, seminars, webinars, and expert lectures on recent developments in Geography.
  • Community-Oriented Geographical Studies – To undertake village-level surveys and studies related to population, agriculture, water resources, land use, sanitation, and socio-economic development. Its related to best practice in the field of Geography.
  • Development of Digital Learning Resources – To prepare e-content, digital maps, question banks, video lectures, and other ICT-based teaching-learning materials.
  • Student Participation and Employability – To enhance students' technical, analytical, communication, research, and employability skills through practical and project-based learning.
  • Preparation for NEP and NAAC Requirements – To continuously improve curriculum delivery, experiential learning, research, extension activities, and documentation in accordance with NEP 2020 and quality assurance requirements.
  • Geography Resource and Data Centre – To develop a departmental repository of topographical maps, thematic maps, satellite images, census data, weather data, research reports, and digital geospatial resources.
  • Promotion of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – To integrate relevant Sustainable Development Goals into teaching, research, fieldwork, and extension activities of the department.
